LA ROCHE RUMBA is joining forces with OXJAM to put on a fund-raising RUMBA SPECIAL for the victims of the HAITI EARTHQUAKE. It’s on Saturday March 13 at Sloans in Argyle Arcade. Please see the flyer below for full details.

In what promises to be an awesome and unmissable night our guests will include Rumba favourites from the past; THE ID PARADE, NEVADA BASE and ANY COLOR BLACK, alongside new kids on the block, BUNNY AND THE MISSHAPES. Also in the mix we have the TONY at the HART of the Rumba machine (see what I did?), THRIFTSHOP XL and also the RUMBA DJs.

It’s going to be a stunning night and for all of that incredible talent we are only asking £7 all of which will go to help the relief efforts in Haiti.

our first gig in london was great, we met some fantastic people again, some of whom were very nice to take us out to lunch. our strobe packed out on us at this gig which meant that andy and i had to shake our heads even more than usual and could actually see what frets we were playing… luckily oxford had some HUGE strobes and the lights were f*cking awesome and would have made our stobe look like a disposible camera flash. everyone in oxford was so so nice and we loved the venue, turns out that the video for radioheads ‘creep’ was filmed there so i am off to watch that after this post. afterwards we ended up in a random jamican place that would not serve jamaican rum and coke (only other rum) and one of our ‘entourage’ got told off for pretending to lick a candle and that there was a sex shop down the road for that sort of thing?! we never did find the sex shop… so after the telling off it was back to the hotel where end of tour cigars were smoked, a tradition that will prevail despite the smoking ban. then back to bonnie scotland, the drive up featured a smashing pumpkin soundtrack and the last of the beer and walkers crisps were consumed. good times.

we really enjoyed the past few days and are definitely suffering some post tour depression, thanks to dave and everyone who helped pop the tour cherry and made us feel so welcome… can’t wait to head back out again and spread some more ‘acb love’.

We’re playing the three sisters with epic 26 this friday, as part of 32 music promotions. Last time we played the three sisters, we got there a little early so found out all the history of the place and apparently it took it’s name from the fact they condemned three sisters to die there after they were caught performing illegally. There is a a lot more to the story but it’s hard to remember it all and normally we would just start making some stuff up, but we don’t want to mess with ghosts…

thanks to everyone who came along to the ladyhawke gig, that was our first time in abc2 and we rather enjoyed ourselves. one of the best things about being a duo is the fact we get the same size rider as a 6 piece band, we got a table of water at the abc2 (literally about 20 bottles) so when we were rehearsing this week we were just pulling random bottles of highland spring from various places we had shoved them in our kit. anyway as interesting as us keeping hydrated is, what we really should be talking about is ‘touch me’ this weekend…

doors are at 7 and it’s over by 10 – so early shots for everyone… eh hem please drink responsibly.
