RUMBA FOR HAITI

LA ROCHE RUMBA is joining forces with OXJAM to put on a fund-raising RUMBA SPECIAL for the victims of the HAITI EARTHQUAKE. It’s on Saturday March 13 at Sloans in Argyle Arcade. Please see the flyer below for full details.

In what promises to be an awesome and unmissable night our guests will include Rumba favourites from the past; THE ID PARADE, NEVADA BASE and ANY COLOR BLACK, alongside new kids on the block, BUNNY AND THE MISSHAPES. Also in the mix we have the TONY at the HART of the Rumba machine (see what I did?), THRIFTSHOP XL and also the RUMBA DJs.

It’s going to be a stunning night and for all of that incredible talent we are only asking £7 all of which will go to help the relief efforts in Haiti.

rbrbr are having their ep launch at the good ole GRV on the 20th of march in edinburgh and we’re super excited to be playing with them on this occassion…

TRACK NUMBER TWO OO OO

as you may have discovered earlier on today, we are not playing in the captain’s rest this evening, unfortunately the band we were supporting split (see what happens when you have girls in the band, trouble) and we only got told at the last minute.

so we’re back to our plan of not playing very many gigs till later in the year, that is until next week…

in other news, i finally have some in internet in my flat which means they’ll be a bit more communication from us without me wanting to chuck my iphone out the window ’cause 3G is really not fast enough….

and…

the second track from our next EP is ready to be shared with the world. we had the wonderful mark freegard co produce and mix this track and hope you like the result. we’ve been playing this track in our set since the first ever any color black gig and it was going to be on our last EP, but other things worked better together so here it finally is…

ok so it turns out we will be playing before april/march… and playing quite a lot. so therefore don’t believe anything we say again.

to apologise for being full of sh*t, we thought we’d give you a little treat to chill out to on a monday evening…

this track is going to be on our next ep and has some very very special guests on it. the viridian quartet, a string quartet based in glasgow, kindly gave up their time to record with us last year. this mix is just vocals and them, the ep version will be all singing and dancing, but we thought this was quite a nice edit too. you’ll be able to catch some of andy’s guitar coming through the headphones since i like them far too loud when we’re recording vocals…

we’re working on a top secret cover this evening for a birthday party we’re playing next week, it is going to be super hot. hopefully someone will record it, if it goes well that is. it does have a lot more words to remember than i’m used to but most of them are numbers so here’s hoping…

anyway here’s start a fire featuring the viridian quartet for your listening pleasure…

WE HAVE BEEN IN HIBERNATION

hello!

hope 2010 is treating you well so far… some of you may have noticed we have been off the radar slightly since december, but huge promises that we are not sitting twiddling our thumbs and we do miss you.

we were going to give you a run down of our 2009 but most of you shared it with us, from the back of the van on our o2 academy tour at the start of our year, to listening to us moan about writing string parts for our gig at cryptic nights. we had a cracking 2009 and would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who came to a show, grabbed a cd, signed up to our mailing list and generally said we ‘were no half bad’.

we have a lot of people who help us drag amps and take pictures and stop us from freaking out when we have 2 hours to get to bristol, and we probably don’t tell them enough that we really do appreciate everything.

anyway enough of the sentimental crap, we have a gig this thurs! it’s for a good cause and it’s at the GRV in edinburgh… we’re playing a very special party on the 29th then we won’t be playing till march, well that is the plan… a few jack daniels and a guitar and really there’s not much stopping a quickie…

can’t wait to get sweaty with you all again!

we’re off to edinburgh this saturday for a night at the ark… it’s a lot cheaper if you get there before midnight so i would recommend it, of course!

we’ll be on relatively late, proper dancing time with some other great acts you can check out below.

after wrestling with the internet for a while we can finally throw up our first track from our new EP… we’re really happy with how it’s worked out and have been itching to share it with you all. so without further ado here’s ‘answer’

can’t wait to hear what you all think and shoot the some of the video for it at our xmas party gig @ stereo next week, if you listen to the lyrics i bet you can guess the concept… you can grab a ticket for that over here >

we recorded this in our little studio and gave it to mr mark freegard to produce and mix it up, we owe him a huge thank you.
