we’ve just slammed some new dates for october up on our site, you can check out the live page for details… they include an oxjam appearance, return to sneaky petes and a visit to the infamous king tuts.

we played at creation studios this friday, we can prove it, there are many many pictures (here and here) of the sweat mess that we created. despite some lyrical difficulties we thoroughly enjoyed our pooch and nevada base covers and a huge thanks to ally for putting on such a great freaking bill, if we do say so ourselves.

september is going to be tidy up month for us, starting with our little studio and then some serious video and serious album recording. very serious. that’s the serious plan. no doubt we’ll find some way to distract ourselves…

WE HAVE A WEEKEND OFF FROM GIGGING, SO I REALLY SHOULD WRITE A POST

unfortnately i don’t have that much of interest to say… andy has ventured off to v festival for the afternoon (as you do) and i’m spending the morning listening to philip glass (tosser, me that is, not him). our gigs recently have been great, like proper good fun. we’ve met some lovely people on our travels and sold a fair few t shirts, soon all anyone will be wearing are acb apparel. pants are coming… we’ve booked a few shows this week for october, including king tuts, which is the first venue andy and i ever played together, in fact, its the first place i played in the whole world. andy always tells the story of us driving up to the place and having to explain to me ahead of time what a monitor/wedge was and basically the protocol of a soundcheck. i think we were awful, we had a drummer that had only rehearsed with us for about 3 hours, a bass player that didn’t really play the bass and andy had to do all the talking between the songs etc cause i was up for none of that. my dad was so nervous for me he got so wasted he could barely speak, that’s proper support…

now obviously andy isn’t allowed a mic because he would chat away our entire slot on any bill and we have a mac to provide our bass and drums… times have definitely changed.

despite having this weekend off we have a crap load of work to do… next week we have an acoustic FREE show @ the three sisters in edinburgh and then a night of mix up mayhem at creation studios in glasgow coming up. both of these require some prep, although

MIX UP MAYHEM

this is going to be a little different than our usual outings, it’s BYOB and at creation studios in glasgow. the deal is we take a pooch and a nevada base song (who are also playing) and we give it an any color black twist, they will also do the same to one of our tracks. we’ve had a few remixes before but we really can’t wait to hear what they do with some of our stuff.

we also do a general cover, in the past we’ve attempted britney spears and and kim wilde and will be continuing our trend of wrecking a pop tune.

it’s first come first serve on the door and i think you should come.

LEITH FM THIS EVENING…

BEST MUSIC VIDEO OF ALL TIME?

yesterday i was messing about on the old facebook while i was waiting for a file to render and hit a video from crossfit’s page. i thought that simultaneously i had hit play on my itunes as the synth was strangely familiar, paused the video, it stopped, pressed play again and repeated this till i was sure that the music was coming from the video.

now i’ve been doing crossfit for a wee while and i love it like a crack addict so this is like the equivalent of… james hetfield wearing an any color black t shirt on stage for andy (being the huge metallica fan that he is).

a few great things came out of this video : andy is for sure going to let me wear vibrams more often since i can now prove it’s what all the cool kids are wearing… and if we ever make it stateside, having some crossfit friends at shows definitely means stage diving is much more safe, given that they can press sh*t loads!

STEAM BOATS

we’re playing the renfrew ferry this sat, we’re now out of our free tickets, but have no fear you can still get some for a fiver on the door… doors are at 7.30pm and we’ll be on around the 9.30pm mark, but we don’t really have a firm idea, so best keep up with us using our usual social shenanigans…

since we’re playing on a boat and andy will repeat this story about 7 billion times over the weekend, we’d also like to impart some knowledge with you this fri am and tell you how the phrase ‘get steaming’ came about…

basically, the story is that there was an alcohol ban in glasgow that meant that the only place folk could legally buy alcohol was on the paddle steamers that ran on the clyde. so folk would go get pissed on the paddle steamers and would say they were away to get “steamboats”.

andy actually cant find anything on the web to back up that it was an alcohol ban but thats where it came from. folk kept doing it and families would go on the boats and get steaming on their way to millport and other places, run amok in the wee towns and then head back home. apparently this is a very similar experience to taking the waverly now, but i haven’t yet…

so hope to see your steaming little faces tomorrow!

hi folks, after our ’soft launch’ of our online store the other week, we have now worked out a few of the kinks and are fully open for business. we have t shirts and hoodies and cds and are looking to add a few more items over the coming months, so please let us know if you have any suggestions.

currently we’re looking into pants and would really like your feedback on this idea and also next on the tshirt front is the one below, please let us know if you’d like it and i’ll try and force andy into ordering some soon…

a free any color black gig of course! i was going to go with the title ‘what’s better than sex?’ but thought that felt a bit much…

we’re playing on the renfrew ferry on the 31st of july for the launch of 32 miles to breakfast’s new EP. we’ve always fancied a gig in the ferry and the boys from 32 miles have a great country twist to their stuff so we’re really looking forward to this one.

so now for the ticket details, we have a wee stack to get rid of and all you have to do is email band@anycolorblack.com your name // address // how many tickets you’d like and the answer to the following question
